Sunday School for Youth

Preschool through high school students develop their faith and bond with their Christian friends every week during Sunday School.  Preschool and Kindergarten grades meet on the main floor in the Preschool Room. Everyone else goes directly to their grade-level classrooms on the second floor.  Students  give their offering along with their parent(s) during one of the worship services.

Preschool - 6th Grade

We’re excited to join with you in helping your kids learn more about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  As part of our Christian education ministry to your child, we are now using Group’s Hands-On Bible MAX™ curriculum. This curriculum gets kids into the Bible and the Bible into kids! Our new Preschool - 6th Grade curriculum offers a multimedia approach.  Each week we’ll be digging into God’s Word with creative activities, group discussions, prayer and worship. And we’ll have fun together! Your child will play games, sing songs, and build safe, healthy relationships with others and with God.

Jr. High and Sr. High

The Jr. High uses an interactive curriculm by Group.  They are currently using the book entitled “New Beginnings” which studies Scripture from Genesis, followed by discusion and then a fun game that reinforces the weekly lesson.
Beginning April 15, Confirmation mentors Dan Stenberg and Arlene Richardson will lead the Sr. High students in discussions that expand upon, and answers questions about, recent Confirmation Class lessons.  All high school students are invited to bring questions about our faith!

Nursery

10:00- noon  Sundays

For years, our nursery ministry has provided a “play-date” for little ones while parents worship and learn.  Volunteers sign-up to serve in the nursery during the Christian Education Hour and Traditional Worship Service.  Often we have “Jr. Volunteers” helping the adults, as seen in these photos.  Depending on the ages, "Nursery Smart Pages" may be used to teach a Bible lesson to toddlers through music and playtime.  Volunteers are also encouraged to hold a Bible storytime.

Parents: Please provide a diaper bag, at least two diapers and personal items. Remember to sign your child in and out each Sunday.

Youth Worship Services

Youth are active in worship! Youth occasionally lead worship in the sanctuary. These have an element of fun, but carry a deeper message applicable to everyone.

Sunday Discussions

A Year with the Bible

This study is designed for those who have an interest and desire in reading through the Bible during the course of the year and taking time to study as they go. It is also designed to help encourage those who have a desire to read the Bible more often but haven't had the discipline to do so.
--Facilitated by Ray Fulbright in the conference room

Bible Study Fellowship

This class meets year-round in the Parlor at 9:00. Whether you're a new believer or life-long Christian, this class will expand your knowledge and further your walk with God. We are currently taking a close look at the Psalms.

Small Group Discussions

Mondays

The Monday Bible Study Group meets every Monday, at 1:00 p.m. in the Parlor or at the Lyon's home.  Everyone is welcome to join.  For more information on the current schedule, contact Pat Lyon (683-0657).

Wednesdays

11:00 AM - Prayers

People gather in the library every Wednesday at 11:00 AM to lift up the needs of our members, our community and our world to God the Father, almighty.

Noon (monthly)

The Brown Bag Circle meets the first Wednesday of the month, at 12:00 PM in the Parlor. Bring a sack lunch, beverage will be provided. We are using the current Horizon's bible study.  Don't worry if you don't subscribe to this Presbyterian Women's magazine, the church library orders a copy for visitors to borrow.

Thursdays

10:00 AM - Spiritual Reflections

Come to the chapel to hear selected readings and Scripture passages that engage us in spiritual reflection.  We then use the readings, Scripture passages and other spiritual disciplines to reflect on and share about God's presence in our lives.  Beginning Thursday, February 23 and running throughout Lent we will begin Lenten reflections around a resource entitled, Way Words: A Daily Itenerary to Lent, by John Indermark. If you would like to participate, the resource for the class, Way Words, can be ordered from www. cokesbury.com or you may contact the church office to order the book. If you have any question, please contact Pastor Fran.

6:00 to 7:30 PM - Movie Night

Movies are shown every Thursday evening upstairs in the Stephen Ministry room. We normally view a movie in parts to allow reflection and discussion.  Movies, while secular are selected for their Christian value.  While movies are viewed over a three to four week period, it is not necessary to attend every week. We just finished The Ultimate Gift and will begin Amazing Grace Thursday, Feburary 16.   Amazing Grace tells the story of one man’s fight to end the slave trade in Great Britain and of his relationship to his old mentor, the author of this famous hymn.  Group imput is sought for each new movie selected.  Dan Stenberg is the facilitator.  He generally has a printed “study guide” for each session allowing for a focused discussion.  All are welcome.
