Special Session Meeting

A special meeting of the Session is scheduled for January 4, 2009 following the second worship service in the Fellowship Hall. All Elders (classes 2008 - 1010) need to attend this meeting to discuss and vote on the 2009 budget.

Taking Down the Greens

We will be taking down the Christmas decorations after the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday, January 4. We appreciate everyone’s help in packing away our beautiful decorations. Please plan to join us!

2008 Contribution Statement

Everyone who receives a 2008 contribution report should review the statement for accuracy.  Any discrepancies should be reported to the Business Manager, John Grinnell, at 684-2851 or email him at johngrinnell@comcast.net.  This process is part of the internal examination of the year end financial records and procedures.   Thank you for your cooperation.

175th Anniversary

On March 29, 2009, First Presbyterian Church of Niles will begin a year long celebration for our 175th anniversary. To commemorate this event the REAP Sewing Group will coordinate the making of an anniversary quilt which will be displayed on a wall in Fellowship Hall. On this quilt we would like to recognize each household with a signed fabric square. Periodically throughout the next couple of months, we will be asking members to personally sign a fabric square. After church today, please look for the tables situated in the narthex and in the parlor to sign your square. Thank you.

General Fund Financial Update

WE MADE IT!

Thanks to you, our congregation, for helping us meet all of our 2008 financial obligations C including the designated Mission giving!

Without your prayers and continued financial support this would not have been possible!   We are also grateful to the various Session committees who were careful with their expenditures this year, and members who often donated what was needed without asking for reimbursement.

YOU CAN HELP! 

The 2009 PER CAPITA ASSESSMENT FOR OUR CHURCH IS $ 12,994.04.  The church is required to pay this assessment in January, 2009.

The assessment and obligation for each church member is $23.08. The per capita assessment is a means whereby each communicant member shares in the administrative costs of the General Assembly, Synod and Presbytery offices.  Each office determines its cost of operation.  For the year 2009 the costs are:  General Assembly $6.15; Synod $3.18; and Presbytery $13.75.  These amounts total $23.08, which is the amount we are charged for each member.  Please help us meet this expense by paying your share of the per capita assessment.  Please indicate on your check that the payment is toward per capita.  Thank you.
