Ministries
The
Deacons are responsible for preparing the
elements for communion, serving coffee and
cookies after each worship service, buying
and delivering the weekly flowe
arrangements, including the Easter lilies
and Christmas poinsettias, to members in
the hospital or nursing homes, providing
transportation for our church members to
our worship services, and extending sympathy
cards. The Deacons are also responsible
for ordering and stocking the Upper Room
and Care Notes publications, handling the
inventory and organizing of the medical
supplies that are loaned out for others
to use, and welcoming new babies and church
members.
Community
Ministries
Each
month approximately 35 bags of food are
delivered to needy families. Members
of the church have helped by supplying goods
and by helping to deliver the bags.
Thanksgiving
baskets full of food are also delivered
to five families each year. Christmas
projects include: providing gifts for the
needy through donations from the congregation
from names on the annual Angel Tree and
Mitten Tree, donations to the Safe Shelter
and Department of Family Services (FIA),
donations for the Veterans and active Military
personnel, and 40 bags of snacks, mittens,
and other essential items for the Juvenile
Center. The Deacons also arrange the
annual Red Cross Blood Drive.

Fundraising
and Special Events
The
Deacons arrange fund raising events throughout
the year to help support the Deacon projects.
Events include "Pies-Not-Ties"
pie sale on Father's Day, a delicious spaghetti
dinner, and a cookie walk.  The
Deacons also host the annual Church Officer
Appreciation Dinner which honors outgoing
church officers. The meal is always
first class and we appreciate everyone's
hard work in making this dinner such a nice
event.
